These are pictures from my British Life and Culture's field trip to Brighton. It is also known as London by the Sea. There are many shops and a lot of history with this place. Brighton was first known as a fishing villiage and in the middle of the town hemp was grown to supply material for fisherman's nets. George, the Prince of Wales eventually King George the IV created a extravagant vacation home known as The Royal Pavillion. From the tour of The Royal Pavillion I learned that George was the least favoured of the sons and he was very much a mischief maker. The style of The Royal Pavillion is Indian in style and inside it has a very oriental feel to it. In fact, the architects working on the home have never been to India or China so the building was modeled after their interpretations of Indian and Chinese architecture. As mentioned before, there are great shops and different parts of town to explore, I know I definitely want to go back ((but definitely when it's a bit warmer!)). Oh and it's actually the "gay capitol" of England.
